The countdown is on and Homecoming is coming soon! Students are arriving back on campus as I write this note (and, for my extroverted self, I'm so grateful)! There's excitement and anticipation in the air as we welcome over 450 new freshmen to campus, while also welcoming back our returning students.
I'm guessing you remember what it was like to move into your dorm room for the first time. The anxious excitement surrounding an unknown future. No matter what you are doing today, my guess is you can trace some of who you are back to some of those "growing up" moments that occurred during your college days.
So why not plan to return on Sept. 28-29 for
this year's Homecoming to the place where new chapters of your life were written? Not only do we have some of our traditional activities and events, we also have a couple of activities being led by AU alums. This year following our Helios event on Friday night, AU alums will be leading a time of worship on the steps of the library. We are anticipating a pretty sweet time of worship! And, then on Saturday evening, we will have our Alumni Showcase event (detailed below).

Homecoming & Family Weekend Registration "Why do I have to register for Homecoming? I've never done that before."
For this year's Homecoming, we have tried to simplify life for you by not only pulling all the information you will need for the weekend into one place, but also by saving you money!
Registration packets include reservations to the Affinity Breakfast, discount coupons
for the bookstore and local businesses, a name tag and lanyard to allow alums to easily identify one another, a schedule of all activities, and admission wristbands to enter the sporting events and any additional activities at a discounted rate.
Registration packets can be picked up on Friday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. outside the Welcome Center, east end of Decker Hall (weather permitting-- if raining, packets can be picked up inside Welcome Center). Registration packets will be available Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at the Alumni Gazebo in the center of the University Blvd amidst Street Fair.

Alumni Showcase event during Homecoming weekend!
On Saturday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m., Reardon Auditorium will be converted to a bit of a "Saturday Night Live" atmosphere with the return of alums Trent Bruce and Mark Sipka to offer some comedic fun, mixed with music and film! You will also be some of the first to premiere the film "Itinerary," which was developed and produced with all AU alums:

Luke Stafford will also be taking the stage, along with other AU alums, to provide some great musical moments throughout the evening.

New to Homecoming: An outdoor alumni worship experience
We'll be celebrating AU's rich heritage of worship music this year with an outdoor worship experience led by AU alums Ally West and Anna Hodge of Alanna Story and Sarah Scharbrough McLaughlin.
Join us in the Valley by Nicholson Library on Friday night, Sept. 28 at 8:30 p.m. to worship together among the luminaries!
Seeking Assistance from our AU School of Theology Alums
We trust that if you received an advanced degree from the AU School of Theology, you had a positive experience. As with every school of higher education, every few years we go through the accreditation process. This year, the accreditation evaluation committee will be on campus Oct. 23-25.
One important piece of our accreditation evaluation includes comments from our Seminary alumni concerning our institution’s qualifications for accreditation. If you are an alumnus of the

You are also invited to the next series of School of Theology's Newell Lectures at Anderson University this fall.
On Oct. 15 beginning at 9 a.m., Anderson University’s School of Theology will host the Newell Lecture series, lectures provided by Dr. M. Daniel Carroll R.
(Rodas) Ph.D. Dr. Carroll is currently the Blanchard Professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College. The relevance of the Old Testament for the challenges of poverty, war, and politics in developing countries led him to a passionate focus on Old Testament social ethics and the social science. Experiences both in the United States and abroad have led him to a deep appreciation for the unique contributions that ethnic minorities, women, and the global church make to the interpretation of the Old Testament. The 50-minute lecture topics will include: -Prolegomena for a Viable Old Testament Social Ethics -Creation and Fall: Foundations for Old Testament Social Ethics -Old Testament Social Ethics and the Mission of God -The Prophetic in Old Testament
