October 2017
Greetings !

I hope that this year you were able to join us during Homecoming/Family Weekend on Oct.13-14. It was an amazing time as the weather was perfect and many alums, families, and friends enjoyed the weekend and many events. If you attended family weekend with your student, we would be interested to hear about it. Please forward any pictures or stories you wish to share from the weekend to me at bebailey@anderson.edu.

Mid-terms are coming for your student. They may need some added encouragement and support. If you want to purchase a RavenGram for your student, you can click on the link in the RavenGram section below.
Blessings,

Review of Homecoming and Family Weekend 2017
Anderson University hosted hundreds of guests for Homecoming and Family Weekend. We invited alums and families of our students to "come home" for this exciting event to close out our Centennial Celebration.

The weekend was filled with student-hosted events, the traditional luminaries in the Valley and Homecoming Street Fair, a special Centennial Fireworks display and even more. Ask your student what their favorite part of the weekend was!

Check out some photos of the weekend's activities!
Four Ways to Maximize the Campus Experience
Anderson University is known for its focus on creating a community that engages with one another in love and support. There are many ways for your student to get involved in this kind of community. Here are just a few:
1. Attend CAB events on campus. At the beginning of the new year, there are many events hosted by the Campus Activity Board (CAB). Some of these early events include Meijer Mania, orientation weekend tailgate, and Dance through the Ages. Most events, like the tailgate and Dance through the Ages, provide a place for your student to connect with other students outside their residence hall while enjoying a fun, themed atmosphere.
2. Join a small group or focus group. Anderson has plenty of opportunities for your student to find an intimate spiritual community on campus. Each freshman hall has focus groups, led by a Discipleship Coordinator (or DC). The DC is a volunteer student leader prayerfully chosen to live with freshmen and lead a focus group for them. Upperclassmen have the opportunity to sign up for a small group. Small groups are also led by volunteer student leaders who have a passion for creating space for intentional spiritual connection among their peers.
3. Join an IM team. Intramural sports are a huge part of Anderson’s community. Encourage your student to grab a couple friends and sign up for a sport that provides a lightly competitive atmosphere in which they can meet other people. There are a lot of options for the IMs your student can join, including basketball, spike ball, and other traditional and non-traditional sports.
4. Join an interest club. Interest clubs are for students of all ages. They are great ways for your student to find friends with similar interests as them, including things like creative writing or gospel music. There is even a Dave Matthews Band interest club.
