February/March 2020
Hello Parents,

We are excited to have your students back with us for another semester. We don’t take lightly the decision they have made to be here at Anderson University and the support that you offer. It’s important to us that they not only have a positive experience, but even more so, that we do all that we can to educate them for a life of faith and service.

Each semester, I have the opportunity to address our students during chapel. On January 23, I once again had this privilege. In the spirit of challenging them to continue to look toward the future and the impact they will have on those around them, I asked them three questions: What do you read? What do you think about? What do you practice?

I shared some thoughts from two books by Simon Sinek, Start With Why and Leaders Eat Last, and one by Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God. As our students consider what their lives will represent and how they will inspire others, I encouraged them to continue prioritizing and practicing being who God has created them to be. I challenged them to consider PPG (practicing the presence of God). To do this best, I asked them to read and meditate on Philippians 4:8-9, which is a good reminder for all of us:

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you (NLT)."

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your student’s transforming experience at AU.

Blessings,

President John Pistole

FAFSA due April 15
February is financial aid awareness month. Did you know that Anderson University offers a variety of scholarships that require your student to submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)? The FAFSA must be filed each year for maximizing the amount of financial aid available to your student. The FAFSA for the 2020-2021 academic year is available now by using the mobile app, myStudentAid, or by completing it via fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to add AU’s school code (001785) to ensure we receive the updated information.

Indiana residents who complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA by April 15, 2020 may qualify for state-issued financial aid.

Your student can apply for additional AU scholarships each year through our Scholarship Manager.

Indiana is also hosting a state-wide event "College Goal Sunday" on February 23, 2-4 p.m. to assist students and parents in completing the FAFSA. Locations and additional information can be found here. The Anderson University Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will have representatives at the Anderson location- Anderson Preparatory Academy, 101 W. 29th St., Anderson, IN 46016.

As always, if you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
