And then the campus was quiet....
The AU campus is quiet, for a short time, before summer camps begin. The last day of finals was May 4, with graduation occurring on Saturday, May 5 (see video highlights below). And our beloved students packed up and headed off for their summer adventures.

As I looked out over the quiet campus today, I reflected on not only the beauty of the trees in the Valley but also on the lives that have been influenced and the minds that have been expanded this past year and in the years prior. Lives that are changing and impacting our world!

It's that time of year again where we begin accepting nominations for our AU alums who have served AU well and who are impacting our world in great ways. Once nominations are received, our Alumni Council reviews the nominations and votes on alumni winners who will be recognized at this year's Homecoming.

Please take a moment and submit your alumni NOMINATIONS for potential alumni winners. Please see DESCRIPTIONS for Alumni Awards here.

Centennial Prayer Labyrinth
Over the past 100 years, Anderson University has sought to cultivate an environment in which students are challenged, educated, and empowered in their area of study as well as in their faith journey. To mark the Anderson University Centennial, we embarked on a new initiative to foster that spiritual formation.

The Centennial Prayer Labyrinth, to be located in the open space beyond the Krannert Fine Arts building and York Performance Hall, draws us back to the foundations of the church and university. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the church community will be able to use this space to gather, rest, and connect with God.

Bricks from the beloved Warner Auditorium will be utilized at the Centennial Prayer Labyrinth's site. You have the opportunity to sponsor one or more bricks for this special project, and recognition for all donors of the prayer labyrinth will be designated at the site. You can even sponsor a brick in honor or memory of someone special or influential in your life. Be a part of the celebration that remembers AU's rich heritage and builds a path forward.

If you, your family, your church or community group would like to sponsor one or more bricks, at $100 per brick, please visit the Anderson University website and designate your gift toward the Centennial Prayer Labyrinth. For questions or more information, please contact Elyse Cromer, (765) 641-4039, associate director of annual giving.

BEYOND HELIOS

AU Alumni Spotlight: Christiana Beasley ('16)
As a natural storyteller, Christiana Beasley ‘16 knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in a creative industry, specifically in film and cinema. She graduated from AU in 2016 with a degree in cinema and media arts and currently manages events for Heartland Film in Indianapolis. She also freelances film and television productions and has worked on the sets of The Walking Dead, Game Night, The Originals, American Ninja Warrior, and The Voice.

Within her first two weeks at AU, Christiana met Dr. Don Boggs, the founder of WQME 98.7 and Covenant Productions. "He asked me to share with him my aspirations, and he told me he could see a spark in me that he didn't see come around often," she said.

To Christiana, this was God calling her to fulfill a degree in the audio/video/cinema production track within Communication Arts. She was quickly pulled onto Covenant Productions filming sets and found her niche at AU; she spent countless hours in the production studio, which became her second home with classmates who became great friends.

"AU provided me with mentors, professors, friends, and even experiences that pushed me to greater lengths than I had ever gone. I am so grateful for the individuals who have constantly supported me along my journey and for the opportunities that shaped me into my better self."

In the future, Christiana is interested in starting her own business within the industry and staying plugged into film/television. "I ultimately want to make a positive difference in the world, and I believe there is a multitude of ways to do so in the arts," she said.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW FOR HOMECOMING 2018 - SEPT. 28-29!

Would you, or your company, be interested in a sponsorship opportunity at AU's Homecoming?

We believe we have a great opportunity for you to show your AU pride by sponsoring an event/activity during this year's AU Homecoming festivities Sept. 28-29. We are seeking potential sponsorship to help offset some of the cost with the Saturday morning Affinity Breakfast for alumni and their families and to help with production and travel costs for some younger AU alums who hope to premiere their film project and host an "Alumni Showcase" evening.

Sponsorship opportunities are available beginning at $2,500. Business sponsors will receive booth space within our Alumni Tent at the Street Fair, as well as have their name published in printed homecoming materials. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Scott Tilley at setilley@anderson.edu or by calling (765) 641-4101.
