Thank you for investing in the dreams of AU students!
Series 3, Edition 3: May 2018

Greetings!

I am Allison Ludwig, a 2016 graduate of Anderson University, and currently, one of the newest members of the Advancement staff. I serve as the project manager for Advancement, coordinating with our staff on events, communications, and the many other initiatives that sprout out of our office.

Because I had such an amazing experience as an AU student, I was so excited to return as a staff member this past January and to give back to a place that I hold so dear.

One of the first projects I became familiar with was our annual Day of Giving:
Orange & Black Give Back. My role for the day included monitoring online giving and updating the donor roll on the AU website.

As April 12 inched closer and closer, the excitement grew in our office and around campus. Our team prayed for God to open hearts around the world, and we logged countless hours leading up to the big day. However, I was not prepared for the outpouring of love and support that came from donors like you.

On the Day of Giving, each gift symbolized an individual or couple who made the commitment to partner with AU to help pave the way for students. It was amazing to have a front-row seat to your generosity on that day and to see alumni, parents, friends, and even students come together with their gifts to build up the university and prove that they believe in AU.

Thank you for your continued generosity and partnership with Anderson University.
Your gifts are making a difference in the lives of AU students every single day.

Blessings,
Allison Ludwig '16
Did you know...
More than 700 AU alumni, parents, students, faculty,
staff, and friends participated in Anderson University's third annual Day of Giving: Orange & Black Give Back and raised more than $121,000 for student scholarships, academic departments, athletic teams and other vital programs.

You, our generous donors, overwhelmed us with your participation and giving. Thank you for your support!

I'm Here Because of You:
Angela Bavaro, Education major, Class of 2019

I remember the day I visited Anderson University. I had already been to several schools in my home state of Illinois and was confident that I was going to end up somewhere closer to home. But when I stepped out of my car that sunny March morning, I instantly felt I was home. The more time I spent on campus meeting with professors and talking to current students, the stronger I felt God calling me to Anderson University. The next day I turned in my application, and I've been grateful for this place ever since.

Never would I have imagined that any college could be as rewarding and as filled with love as AU. I've been poured into by faculty and staff, challenged by students, and truly changed by the whole community. We come alongside those who are broken and hurting, celebrate joyous moments together, and challenge each other in a way that brings us all closer to God. AU has a community unlike any I've experienced before, and that community is what makes me most proud to be a Raven.

Thank you for your willingness to support me and my fellow students through your gifts. Without you, I wouldn't be receiving the amazing education that I am. I have been able to have three minors and still finish early. I wouldn't have experienced professors who are intentional in every interaction and seek ways to love and support each individual student. I wouldn't be in my amazing small group that continually challenges my faith and comes alongside me in everything I do.

I would never be able to attend this magnificent place without the amazing generosity from donors like you. Thank you for supporting me and believing in me and my fellow Ravens. We couldn't do it without you.

I’m here because of you!

Centennial Prayer Labyrinth
Over the past 100 years, Anderson University has sought to cultivate an environment in which students are challenged, educated, and empowered in their area of study as well as in their faith journey. To mark the Anderson University Centennial, we embarked on a new initiative to foster that spiritual formation.

The Centennial Prayer Labyrinth, to be located in the open space beyond the Krannert Fine Arts building and York Performance Hall, draws us back to the foundations of the church and university. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the church community will be able to use this space to gather, rest, and connect with God.

Bricks from the beloved Warner Auditorium will be utilized at the Centennial Prayer Labyrinth's site. You have the opportunity to sponsor one or more bricks for this special project, and recognition for all donors of the prayer labyrinth will be designated at the site. You can even sponsor a brick in honor or memory of someone special or influential in your life. Be a part of the celebration that remembers AU's rich heritage and builds a path forward.

If you, your family, your church or community group would like to sponsor one or more bricks, at $100 per brick, please visit the Anderson University website and designate your gift toward the Centennial Prayer Labyrinth. For questions or more information, please contact Elyse Cromer, 765) 641-4039, associate director of annual giving.
I Give Because I Received:
Marv ('81) and Beth Hills give back to AU

Marv (‘81) and Beth Hills give back to Anderson University because they know their gifts directly impact current students. Marv benefited from scholarships and grants he received as an AU student and wants to provide students with the same opportunities.

"There is immense pressure in 2018 for students to choose the cheaper route of attending an online university or a community college where tuition might be slightly lower [than AU]. However, that merely represents getting a degree, whereas living on-campus as a full-time student at Anderson is an experience that truly changes people’s lives and teaches more about life than it does about the particular course of study. Without donors supporting the University financially, there will be fewer and fewer students who see Anderson as a viable alternative," said Marv.

As a student, Marv’s accounting degree didn’t only teach him the rules of accounting; he also learned the reasons that the rules exist from the late professor Dr. Glenn Falls. These lessons prepared him well for his 37-year career. "More importantly, I learned about the ‘rules of life’ and how to conduct myself as a Christian, since Anderson University was preparing to send me out into the real world," said Marv. He also developed deep friendships and stayed connected to AU in the years after graduation.

Marv and Beth’s three children also graduated from Anderson University in 2007, 2011, and 2015.

Tuition Freedom Day 2018

On March 20, hundreds of Anderson University students visited the first floor of Decker Hall to sign a banner to say "thank you" to the donors who make their AU experience possible. Tuition Freedom Day (typically held in March), represents the day in the semester in which students' tuition is paid in full by donors and financial aid. Below is a photo of the 2018 Tuition Freedom Day banner signed by students.

The 2017 Annual Report of Gifts is now available online! We invite you to take a moment to view the report as well as notes from donors and students. Please visit the AU website to view the full report.

Thank you for your gifts to Anderson University.
